My biggest secret to shiny and healthy hair is a clean hair brush.
It's important to clean your hairbrush regularly to get rid of dirt, product residue and oils from the scalp that build up on the bristles over time so that it isn't getting on your clean hair each time that you brush it.
The good news is that this process doesn't have to be time consuming. Here's my favorite way to clean my brushes quickly and efficiently:
Step 1: Remove the hair
Remove all the hair from the brush. My favorite tool for this is the Hair Brush Cleaner from Kitsch.
Step 2: Wash the brush
Fill the bathroom sink or a large bowl with warm water, add some clarifying shampoo and mix together to create suds.
Step 3: Let it soak
Place the brush in the solution and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. If the brush is really dirty, you can use a clean toothbrush to gently scrub between the bristles.
Step 4: Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the brush well with warm water and then place the brush on a towel (bristles down) to dry.
How often to clean your hair brush:
I recommend doing a thorough cleaning once a month and making sure to remove the hair from the bristles regularly in between washes.
